Julie Worley was born and raised on a ranch in the beautiful Sandhills of Western Nebraska. She attended Colorado State University/Fort Collins, and later graduated from National American University/Rapid City, South Dakota with a BS degree in Business Management.
For eleven years, Julie worked as a rural economic developer in Rocky Ford, Colorado, and worked with other developers across Southeast Colorado in collaborative projects ranging from housing, to business retention and development, to youth and entrepreneurship endeavors. For two years, Julie worked in Phillips County in Northeast Colorado as the Director of the Phillips County Economic Development Corporation. During her tenure in Phillips County, Julie was instrumental in implementing the Youth Engagement Project for the 5th-12th grade youth across Phillips County.
Julie is a “rural advocate” to the core, and genuinely believes that we must encourage and foster entrepreneurship – especially for our youth - if our rural communities are going to survive. Over the past fourteen years, Julie has assisted numerous individuals in business development – from finding start-up resources to “open for business”.
Julie served for nine years on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Rural Development Council, and organized the first-ever Colorado Entrepreneurship MarketPlace.
Julie presently serves on the Arts for Colorado Board of Directors; the Rural Arts Now! Board of Directors; and is a past member of the Phillips County Arts Commission. Julie is also a founding member of the Southeast Colorado Creative Partnership, a non-profit, grassroots, arts organization promoting creativity and the arts throughout Southeast Colorado.
Julie’s love of her family and eight grandkids, and her enjoyment of the culinary arts; small business; and small towns – has taken her places, and provided her opportunities to meet great business leaders; artisans; politicians; and lifelong acquaintances from varying professions and careers. A genuine “people person” who enjoys life – and good food, lists watching the sun rise – from anywhere on earth! - as one of her favorite things.
